Eyepiece Case

8472

Recommended Posts

Well i've finally got my finger out and purchased a scope.

Nothing fancy - just a simple used 200p dob, with a nice selection of EP's

I was wondering, can anyone point me in the direction finding a good value for money (flight?) case with styro/foam innards for said eyepieces?

I've heard the Maplin cases are quite popular, but are there any other recommendations?

Ta!

+1 for the Maplins cases, decent size, £20 ish, perfect for ep's.

At the time I could not find anything that fitted the bill better that was cheaper!

EDIT: Congrats on the purchase by the way, I love mine!

Cheers Daz,

There are quite a few on the website - the one I'm looking at is currently 34 quid. I've heard they often have offers on though too.

I may pick one up from the Mansfield branch on my way to/from work, sometime.

I cant get onto the Maplins website at work for some odd reason, I will reply back with the product code later on when home for the 2 that I have bought.

Hi Kev, congrats on the new scope.

I think you hit the nail on the head, "a simple 200P". It is a fantastic scope, and will keep you busy for a good while. For me the simplicity is what I like about Dobs, you sit them down, get them cooled down, and get on using them.

Have a look at Daz's signature, it might give you a few idea's about mods you can do to get the best out of it.

Enjoy!

+1 for Maplins and +1 for popping in to have a look, they had some in Nottm branch the other week that weren't on the website at the time. And congrats on the scope, you'll not be disappointed with it.

Congrats on your purchase, I also love my 150p Dob, easy and simple, like me lol. I have seen some second hand cases on ebay for around £12 delivered from an astro shop. I've ordered a blue one, so I will report back on what it's like when it comes.

+1 for the Maplins case - around £20 when on offer - you can pull out the pick 'n' pluck foam to the exact shape of your eyepieces or camera's :)

If you order on line, the 2 cases I have bought have a product code of N70AP, with delivery I paid £22.98.

Bargain.

Thanks all round for your input, folks! :)

I'll try and pick one up tomorrow or so - If i get time, that is.

ATM, eyepiece-wise, I've just got the standard 2 items you get with the scope (10 & 25mm?), a x2 Barlow, a TMB 6mm Planetary, an eyepiece-adapted webcam and a Meade 5000 Super Wide Angle 20mm. I guess I'll need a little extra space in the case for future purchases, too.
