Ilkeston & District AS - Autumn Astronomy Open Day - Saturday November 3rd 2012

Just been passed this info from one of our Society Members......

Just to let you know that the Ilkeston & District AS are holding their Autumn Astronomy Open Day and Display at the Visitor Centre, Shipley Country Park, Slack Lane, Heanor, Derbyshire, on Saturday November 3^rd 2012. Doors open from around 9:30am until 4pm. Admission is free, but there are now (pay & display) parking charges at the Visitor Centre.

We’ll have a selection of member’s telescopes on show, a gallery of drawings and photographs, and several automated powerpoint presentations going on throughout the day. We also hope to do some solar observing in the Centre’s Courtyard – though this is weather permitting!

This will be a pretty informal affair, and members will be on hand to chat about astronomy and give advice. If anyone has a problem with their telescope, then this is a really great opportunity to bring it along to get some hands-on help and advice.

Please note that our event does not include any evening observing on this occasion – should still be a good day though.
