I don`t know what you all mean, i love Christmas, though i have young children so it goes with the territory. Asside from the additional expense, massive queues in the shops, and the general stress it`s great. Plus i need some new socks. :D

I'm probably in a minority here but I think there's too much emphasis on the commercial side and not the spiritual side.

I am not in the least bit spiritual, but I agree about the commercialism of holidays. I would rather not do presents (either giving or receiving) and instead just go to see people. It particularly irritates me when people ask "what do you want?". I could just buy it myself if we're resorting to that!

Humbug.

I like the family side of Christmas, but not being spiritual either, it has a limited appeal for me.

It's great for kids, and we make a big fuss of the grandchildren.

I love to see their excitement completely destroyed when I give them something completely useless, such as paperclips, and then back to big smiles when they get the big prezzy.

This is matched by my excitement when the courier rings our doorbell, tomorrow with a bit of luck.

I have noticed that the supermarkets are sneakily making out stuff as being a seasonally traditional item, when it has never been one in the first place.

Ah well, 17 days until it gets lighter at night. :D

Its the way we (meaning most not all) have been told/conned that they have to spend more than they have on worthless tat,and deck the house like a lighthouse for 3 months of the year to keep up with the neighbors

family meal and get together is fine but far to commercial for me

now where is my normal avatar :D

Better stand up and be counted! As a born again Christian, I enjoy both the spiritual and the family side of Christmas. But having said that, Easter is far more important to me than Christmas (spiritually)!

I have to stand up to, our Christmas is based around church as is Easter. Cant see why people celebrate if they do not believe the underlying reasons. Would seem

pointless to me.

Aaaahhhh Christmas.

That wonderful time of the year where people buy presents and food they cannot afford and spend the best part of the next year paying for them.

When the suicide rate goes through the roof as people struggle to cope with the stress and loneliness.

When so called religious people go to their yearly service.

The time of year when folks are spreading goodwill on the very people they will be treading on within a month.

Oh what a joyous time of the year.

BAH HUMBUG

I agree, that's why we often go camping, just us two and the old dog. Are the dark sites available over Christmas? We could look for Santa lol. :D

Yup - Xmas week is a good time to meet at the dark sites - we had a session between Xmas and New Year last year as I recall :)
