Guest Posted December 21, 2012 Share Posted December 21, 2012 Remember that we abandoned epicycles because we thought that all planets, including Earth orbitted the Sun. Well, knowing what we do now, there is another possibility. If there was a black hole at the centre of an epicycle or one locus of an elliptical epicycle then a planet can orbit the black hole.
