Last night was the first time I had managed to get the obsy up and running for 2 weeks.

After all sorts of grief with the computers and the guiding I decided to just let it do its own thing whilst I went out for a couple of hours.

First target was M81 and M82.

Helios 200 Newt

Canon 350 D modded.

145 - 30 second subs at ISO 800

21 Darks.

21 Flats.

Stacked in DSS

Processed in PS 6.

When I got back home and after much head scratching trying to get the ST 80 to focus I gave up and cobbled a guide scope together with a camera lens the SPC 900 and some duct tape.

With the guiding now up and running again I turned my attention to Leo.

Helios 200 Newt.

Canon 350 D modded.

11 - 300 second subs at ISO 800.

5 Darks.

15 Flats.

Nice job Graham.

I'm getting really depressed with the constant cloud here. Only had 2 small opportunities this year and on both occasions I had some glitch or other losing me valuable time. Both 'runs' ended being clouded out again. [/violin]

My M95 last night ended 4 minutes into the first sub

Please keep the images coming.

Regards.

Graham - my ST80 required *70mm from bare drawtube end to camera (QHY5) so 2x lens-less Barlow tubes were employed.

Regards.

Edited to add: *With the drawtube out 20mm.

Thanks folks.

I was just glad that the seemingly never endless cloud finally parted for a few hours.

# Paul. I have just set the ST 80 up ready for tonight ( I hope ).

The 2 extensions I was trying last night  were either too short or too long.

I have just striped the guts out of an old 3 x Barlow and as Goldilocks said " its just right "

I have perfect focus on a chimney about 1/2 a mile away and still have 3 inches inward focus travel left.

It is so much easier in the daylight.

Very nice Graham.

I get the QHY5 to focus on the ST80 with just one 2x Barlow tube.

Once you get the exact distance for star focus - tape it all up

Now that is not a bad suggestion.

Like your thinking Paul.

They are good Graham. I like the angry reds in M82, and The Leo group is always a favourite, good dust lanes.
