If you think the seeing conditions are bad

For those that think the seeing conditions are bad just at ground level in the Midlands I can confirm that even flying to the Orkneys the other day it was just as bad in the air. After being fog bound at East Midlands and a taxi to get a change of flight at Birmingham, the lovely sunny day turned into grey haze in the air to Edingurgh and then to grey haze and split cloud cover, a blanket at low level preventing seeing the mountains and lochs and high level preventing seeing the stars between Edinburgh and Kirkwall. And then the Orkneys very dark with the lack of street lighting and even darker with the cloud cover.
