M51 from tonight 30.03.2013

Recommended Posts

Well after a catologue of problems with my newt and camera I set up the 127mm Frac sorted the camera and got back to what I love to do, imaging.

Took this tonight through a veil of high cloud.

16 - 300 second subs at ISO 800

5 Darks

11 Flats

Stacked in DSS

Quick brush up in PS6.

I have had to crop this to the extream to get rid of the rubbish that is still stuck to my sensor but I am quite pleased with it.

Tobias - thanks

Mick - When I read of other people troubles with the CCD side I wonder myself mick. I would like to have a go at some RGBL stuff.

Andy - Not as yet, now I have the frac up and running I will take my time with the newt, Strip it right down and flock it.

Nice Graham, was it guided or not as stars seem a bit oval, by doing that m51 also looks stretched, try dump the bad subs :)

Hi Eddy.

Noticed that about the stars myself this morning.

Too tired to see it last night as I had been laying concrete all day.

I must have missed a couple of bad subs when I went through it.

I will have another look at this if I get time today.

Fair enough :) Like most of us, in a rush to process and then realise the following morning you've left some bad subs or accidently kicked out good subs aswell
