It was quite pleasant in the Sun too Rob! Go for it (might not see it for a while!)

managed to set up the gear but was viewing through cloud so didn`t get the cameras on it, just visual.

there was a lovely big spot towards the edge.

one big plus, i did manage at last to get the x box controller working with windows xp, so can now slew to targets and align easily using the eqmod adapter, was struggling as i couldn`t look through the finder and operate the eqmod controls at same time as the pc is in the corner of the obsy which was a major flaw in my plan.

Lovely image Ron. How much did you crop the image, as the sun nearly fills the sensor on my set up.

Also, did you just take the images from the camera or use backyard eos? When i was using backyard the camera kept shutting down as i think in live view the sensor was getting too hot.

Just cropped the corners James and used the 5x,10x on liveview to focus. used the 6"RC as it fills the 1100d nicely and a 90' viewfinder adaptor so I wasn't blinded by  looking into the Sun!!

Thanks Ron. Did you focus on a sun spot or on the edge of the sun? I found focussing quite difficult as it all looks the same.

Did your Canon shut down at all?
