NGC 6946 From last night.

Well I have just fell in love with this Atic 314 L.

With all the problems I was having with noise I was considering going back to the Canon and leaving this CCD stuff to the experts.

I have spent the last couple of days reading every article I could find written in simple English on using one of these CCD cameras.

So last night I decided to give it one last try last night.

After rechecking and re collomating I changed the set up yet again back to the newt.

This time I spent over an hour adjusting the balance and getting it as close to perfect as I could.

I decided to change tactics and do the imaging run using the same work flow as I would use for the Canon.

Lights, Darks and Flats.

I also decided to shorten my sub length down to 300 seconds and increase the number to try and combat the LP.

I ended up with 80 subs and after sorting out the bad ones finished up with 67 subs I was happy with  to stack.

This is the result of my nights work.

Helios 200 Newt.

Atik 314 L

67 x 300 second subs.

21 x Darks

21 x Flats

Stacked in DSS

Polished up in PS 6.

After talking to Stephen I reprocessed this using Bias frames insted of Darks.

This is the result.

Thanks Mike.

I think the way forward looks a little less daunting after tonight. :)

I just need some practice

Maybe tonight at wymeswold

Thanks Sheila.

After a discussion with Stephen I have added a new reprocessed image into the mix.

This one is done with Bias frames insted of the dark frames.

I think it is a lot sharper.
