Crayford electric focus?

Has anyone seen a modification to allow electric focus on a Crayford-style dual speed SCT focuser?

The ones on sale are several hundred pounds, and just wonder if there is a cheaper option.

Thanks

James

P.S. I have this http://www.harrisontelescopes.co.uk/acatalog/copy_of_SkyWatcher_Dual_Speed_Focuser_For_SCT_Telescopes1.html

I'm in the process of designing one at the moment.

I'll bring what I have so far to show you if you are interested.

Cost so far is around £ 12.00

Here's what I've rigged up with a few bits a aluminium bar and a pully wheel and belt :)

Around £20 for parts plus the cost of the skywatcher auto focusser :D

I have a Sky Watcher auto focuser fitted on the same Crayford.

Just modify the motor bracket (in my case butcher) and fit with longer screws.

Regards.

Right, I dug out an electric focuser I'd forgotten about that I got with the tatty old reflector. Astroccokie showed me the screws and which I could undo underneath. I've had a play around, and I now think with minimal help I can get this working! The focuser is quite slow, but maybe the batteries are flat, but I'm not sure it needs to be quick anyway, but it was only £10 when I got it.

On the Baader there are two grub screws which just fill holes. So I used longer bolts to screw through the aluminium block :simples:

That all looks very professional.

Here's my parts so far, just working on the bracket!!!

Controller with speed control (0 to 90% of duty cycle)

6V power supply input and motor output, up/down thumb switch.

Servo motor modified for continuous rotation with 2.5mm socket for connection to controller.
