Focal reducers

So they speed up a given optical system, but do they increase greatly the field of view, or are the two so linked you can't do one without the other?

Yes, that is much clearer than the websites I'd found.

But would using a focal reducer to make my f/15 Mak faster (say 15 x 0.66 = f/9.9, or 15 x 0.33 = f/4.95) give the same FoV of scopes with these intrinsic speeds?

[No, I just found the answer to this on this thread:  http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/119797-focal-reducers-and-field-of-view/]

Thanks.

It's on rings and a losmandy plate ready, I just can't collimate the blinkin' thing. I might have another go today with Dion.

I have the Antares screw in. It reduces the magnification by 2 and increases the field of view by about 1.7. I use it for afocal deep sky photography with up to 8 seconds' exposure. Yes, I'm that nutty.
