Now that Photoshop is subscription only (Starting at a bargain £27.34/month...), is there any other similar software that anyone can recommend?

v3 has been around about 18 months or so  It's a good program, but it's not PS

So it has... I should read, not skim :(

Paint Shop Pro X5 is available from Amazon at £35.99 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008TI5Y42/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Just bought a copy for the office, but not had time to try it out properly yet. Gets pretty good reviews and one of my colleagues has already been trying out the HDR features.

I had a play with a demo of Corel's AfterShot Pro. Got some good results pretty fast. I honestly don't get their pricing though. X5 £35 from Amazon, £60 to download it from them?

Gimp 2.8.6 supports 16bit images I think?!

Edit : Scratch that - it's on the 2.9 unstable branch
