Thanks mick :). I feel ya pain, I used to do 7 nights in a row when I worked in childrens a&e. Nights are crap, especially when the skies are clear. What do you do for work mick?

That was not what I was expecting :). Dunno what I was expecting really! Astrophysicist maybe ;) lol! That's crap that you have to do nights though. At least it's not nights at the weekend, you can still come to the meets :)

Yeah it's crap in Leicester at the moment, I've just been to Oadby playing with an 8" dobsonian that's advertised on ebay, really nice bit of kit, although I'm now thinking about a 10"....

Go for 12".

Lol!!! I'm not made of money and don't you need a transit to move one of those things???

What kind of scope would you need to see these??? Could it be a Dobsonian??? Cheers. M.

An 8" will be able to manage most of them but not alone. To get that much detail you need something bigger/better, some camera equipment, a lot of time, some software like Registax (sp?) etc etc.....

Andromeda (M31) in my 200P from my light pouluted back garden just looks like a fuzzy white faint blob, yet to see it from a dark site.

ok, I was looking at a 200P, that seems a big starting place for a lot of people....
