I am based in East Sussex, but travel to East Midlands to be with parents in Market harborough. I have recently moved back from Canada and am now looking to get back into Star gazing. I own a Meade, Lx 200 10", a mallincam, the Canon Dlsr 60a for astrophotography ... However, I am very much a novice and look forward to getting set up permanently with a observatory in my back garden.

Hi Tony,

Warm welcome to EMS. Enjoy your stay. Great sct's the Lx's, had a 10" lx200 classic previously.

Just what on earth made you come back from Canada??, but erm yup last time I was there it was -52 :)

Welcome to EMS Tony.

I too used to have the same excellent scope. I'm now more interested in your Mallincam. Which model do you have?

Hi Tony welcome, I agree with whoever said, "come back from Canada!" I thought it was a great place when we visited it a few years ago!! Anyway, welcome to EMS and the forum!

Welcome. If you are up in the East Midlands often keep an eye on various events which are astro-related such as the Nottingham University Public lectures (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/physics/outreach/science-public-lectures.aspx) and Trent University have some lectures too and open up their observatory after the lecture (http://www.ntu.ac.uk/cels/outreach/Optical_observatory/Open_dome/) and also the Nottingham Astronomical Society has lectures and a 24" telescope they are trying to get used more often (http://nottinghamastro.org.uk/). There will probably be similar societies and events on the South Coast, it's just a case of hunting for them; many will be advertised in the Sky at Night magazine and in Astronomy Now.
