With all the wonderful weather lately I've been looking back at some old data and trying out PI to remove gradients etc.

This is a grey scale image of ngc7331 and Stephan's Quintet.

Now that is awesome - lost count of the amount of galaxy's that can be seen, cracking good detail on the main one, love it.

thats a belter

sometimes I do think PI processed images are a bit too black in the background

Thanks Steve,

It's all personal prefs really. I don't like over processed images. Taking the background much darker would loose quite a bit of the wisps around SQ, but PI certainly improved the detail in 7331's disc.

It is indeed

I had a go with a trial of PI a couple of years ago and to be honest struggled with it.I think I managed 1 image with it.

If I get a good run of work I may have another try at it
