M1 and M42, both fairley low in a Moon washed sky

M1 25x120s+10darks+4 Flats

M42 28x120secs + 11Darks+4 Flats

I have decides to bring out the red nebula on M42 despite the sky turning red!

Cheers

I should add i think the M42 is great too, i just love the contrast of M1 sitting alone in a starry background, it's a fascinating looking thing to me.

42 looks good with a touch of coma , but I would expect that with the large chip of a DSLR

tracking on M1 looks a bit off or was blown about a bit or knocked

but as test shots you rig looks promising

10min subs on the horizon???

go for it

Not guiding yet but pleased with drift align setup!

James, I put a clear/cloudy plastic cap over the lens and let it take 20 subs in a lit room, seems to work OK?

Cheers

Ron

PS M42 was very low between a tree and the house!!

Yes Col. really testing the drift align I did on Tuesday night, seems OK. Not the best of images, but a Big Moon didn't help! :)

Nice pics Ron. Did you use a barlow for M1? I tried it the other week and realised it was tiny in the frame. Not had chance to try again since.

Looks promising Ron, you setup brings out the filaments in M1 nicely. M42 is none too shabby either.
