12 x 200s subs at 800 ISO

6 Darks, 6 Flats

Conditions not ideal ( Poor seeing, 98% humidity)

Pretty happy for first attempt using my DIY setup.

Burnt out the trapezium. Any ideas how to take shorter exposures and layer the central part with the delicate outer parts?

Cheers

Paul

Going to have to find a 'shoestring' way of getting rid of that heat on the right hand side of the image.

Rob suggested replacing the battery with a power supply lead. (Cheers for the tip Rob)

Easily done but is that the only source of the heat?

I know webcams can suffer amp glow. Is this an issue with DSLR's?

Good capture Paul,

Removing the blown out core and replacing it with shorter exposures is my next task on my effort of M42, not 100% certain how to do this though yet.

Cheers Felix.

Rob. I've just remembered there was an article a while ago in S@N about doing M13 without burning out the core.

Perhaps the same principles apply.

I'll dig it out tomorrow and let you know. :-)

Nice. Rich colours. And i like the spikes on the stars and the sense it's a three dimensional structure.

:)

Great start.

That's a pretty special pic for your first go with the shoestring setup Paul. I'd frame it and keep for posterity if I were you. Fabulous job :)
