Hi all,

I am trying to get my guiding set up sorted (quidescope and QHY5) with PHD and not having much luck, I am probably doing something daft, well I'm hoping so! But its getting a little frustrating to say the least.

Anyway, the first problem I had was I could get an image on bright objects such as a distant street light/moon but the screen was just black when aiming at the stars.

Then I found the camera button and fiddled with the gain and brightness got something on screen however still no stars just lots of different shades of white and grey small squares (pixels?) that sort of flash/shift around. Looks like an old arcade game with out the aliens!

I don't really know how else to explain it, and don't think it should look like that, see pic attached, so if anyone has any ideas or can tell me what I'm doing wrong I would be really grateful. :)

Is this PHD 2 or 1.4 version? Version 2 I and others have found unworkable! v1.4 is stable and well used by lots of people  :)

With the finder guider / qhy5 you should be able to get stars quite easily - I suspect focus here and the dots on the screen probably just mostly noise introduced by messing with the gain and such which you should not normally have to do.

When you got the moon on the screen, was it in focus?
