M106 revisited with the newt this time.

Had another go at this last night.

After discussions with Steve (ibbo) we came to the conclusion that I needed a longer focal length than the GT81 for this type of stuff when using the canon.

So I dusted off my old Helios 200 newt and set it up on the rig.

This is the result.

Helios 200 Newt

Canon 350 D

72 x 180 second subs at ISO 800

11 Darks

11 Flats

Stacked in DSS

adjusted in PS 6.

Thats nice Graham, loads of stuff in there! A longer FL makes focusing a lot easier I think?

Well done mate  :)

Thanks Ron

Its a bit different to the last one.

Still have some issues with the stacking but that could be down to oval stars, it was a bit breezy here last night and the guiding was struggling a bit.

A bit better on the resolution

but it looks like a classic case of pinched optics somewhere in the system either the primary is held down too tight or the maybe  secondary glue if used  needs a bit of felt between mirror and backplate

does the tinkering never end
