Mars at Opposition 8th April 2014. Imaged with: 200P, Belt driven NEQ6 Pro, 4x Televue Powermate and an ASI120MC. Captured in Sharpcap 2, stacked in AS!2, wavelets in registax then unsharp mask in PSCS2.

Not a great night for it with bad seeing but I thought I would at least have a go. It's a slight improvement on last attempt but still not where I would like it to be. I cannot remeber the last tme I got an image on screen and thought "wow the seeing is great!"

I took 8 runs in total. I will look through the rest and see if anything usable and add to this thread.

Comments/advice welcomed as always :)

Felix, I think you're a bit hard on yourself! That is a good image given the conditions last night. It was humid, the jet stream was right overhead and you're looking through loads of atmosphere. Have a look on Twitter for other images last night (Will Gater and Mark Thompson as a starter) and see how they compare. :)

Thanks Leigh :)

You know how it is though whatever we do we always want that little bit extra detail/sharpness/quality etc. Mars is just so difficult!

Felix,

I wish I could take pictures that badly. I think as Leigh above you are being hyper critical.

Yup good one there Felix. I was viewingthis last night with the Mak. You've got recogniseable features there, North polar cap, Acedalia Planatia, Arabia Terra. Nice one

That's great actually Felix. I think even a hint of polar cap at the top?
