New mount time

Here is one of the Goto motors -

The mount can handle a telescope weighing 100kgs.


 


Will post more piccys when I put it together.

The mount is from a Meade 16DS -

Designed to hold a 16 inch solid tube reflector weighing 240 Lbs.


 


The goto is an AWR intelligent handset system.


 


The motors are - RS 191-8384


 


When I finally move house next month and get my new Obsy built this will be my Obsy mount.

It's going to one mighty fine mount once it's done. Are you going for a large heavy scope as well?

Not planning to, well not yet. (Don't think I will ever overload it!)

The mount was given to me for the right price - Free

Just needs some new worm/wheels from Beaconhill.

I've had plans to design a large mount, for when I retire  :lol:


 


I was looking at the worm and wheels at Beaconhill as well, maybe the 11" one.

That is outstanding Andy, especially with the trolley dolly!. When I was shifting the LX200 around that was 80lbs of dead weight to try and mount on the field tripod and reach underneath & attach the damn thing!.

That is just a stock photo, mine doesn't have the wheels which were an optional extra.

My plan is for a permanent setup anyway.
