Secondary collimation.

Ok, so the secondary mirror and veins have been removed so I could collimate the focuser again after removing a 0.5" riser, that's fine, put the secondary back in and due to my Baz's knobs on the back of the secondary I can't get a 6" ruler to fit to make sure the secondary holder is central to the OTA. So I used a 6cm protractor to measure from the inside edge of the OTA to the central stalk that holds the secondary mirror. These 4 measurements are identical (or as near as), my question, is this a correct part to measure against?

I ask, as when looking through the Cheshire the cross hairs are not on the donut and the secondary is off, by a lot. Thought I would ask before I start messing about with the secondary mirror screw and collimating knobs.

If my initial measurements are wrong, everything I do going forward will be incorrect.

Cheers all.

me too !!!!!

I have done this too...

I used a calliper to measure from the inside OTA to the centre of the phillips screw..

(only because a calliper has a nice sharp edge).

Just..for the love of... don't overtighten the screws when tightening the spider..I used washers

in between the screw and the OTA so as not to dent the OTA

But even after that alignment..the secondary can be way off..mine was too
