So what is inside a Wollensak 12.5mm EP?

Curiosity got the better of me......

I found some sort of camera lens with F Stops (Iris) and focus adjustment.

Any Ideas what it is?

Blimey! I never knew that (never had it apart) - I might have sold a golden egg for the price of an old sock lol. :)

It may be a "Voigtlander rangefinder mount lense"

Interesting links Kim.

Or a lens from a Leica Rangefinder Camera of many years ago?

Originally until I opened it today I thought it was a microscope eyepiece.

Still investigating....

Interesting - looks like Wollensak most make/made? cine camera lenses. I reckon it's a cine camera lens in a 2 inch tube.

That's interesting Dave - and it's surprisingly good for astronomy considering it's history. :)

That is my favourite original use so far as the lens is not large enough in diameter for a range finder camera and looks more like some of their cine lenses.

In the 1970s the Wollensak company that had a plant at at Rochester NY was bought out by Anson Instrument and manufactured until 2001  and at some time after Surplus Shed bought the name and also stock that dated back many years.

Not sure when the lens was converted into a 2" EP. I suspect that is a Surplus Shed venture.
