Another Tornado in Lincolnshire (Not RAF plane)

As long as they don't touch down around Cranwell, I don't mind! Not seen this many in the county before?

Not sure if you lived here then but one came thru where you live now - down the main road in fact past the guard house or there about  - luckily didn't do much damage - not like the Michael Fish "not" hurricane which ripped up 10+ big trees down the camp.  Think I read UK gets more Tornado's than USA just not as big.

The UK does in fact get more tornado`s than the USA but more per square mile. The sheer size of the USA just means that there is a bigger land mass for them to form. Myself and one of my fellow workers actually saw a tornado in Spalding in Lincolnshire in about 2007. We were about 7 or 8 miles away but it could be seen very clearly. It was reported in the local press and some of the witnesses from Splading gave some very good accounts of their sightings.

Poland also get a lot of big tornado`s, as big as some of the ones that they get in the USA. My wife is Polish so we see them reported on Polish television. A few years ago whilst in Poland we saw the damage done by a tornado a few weeks before our visit. There was a line of flattened trees about 100m wide as though someone had driven through the forest with a massive bulldozer.

I think that there are more reports of them now because almost everyone has phone with them and everything can be captured on portable media nowadays.
