Why oh why did I ever sell my other EQ6?!

It looked clearish at around half 9 tonight so after I'd eaten I thought I'd set up the new EQ6 and go through a polar align then move around the sky with CdC and EQmod just for fun and see how it all worked and to remind myself of the little bits you have to do. Well after an initial faff I tried the soul neb, but for some reason I couldn't get more than 30 seconds without trailing. Very disheartened.

I then went to the veil, and after a little readjusting of the scope and camera I was on. So, 30 sec was perfect. So was 1 min, and 2..hmmm. 5 min exposure was still bang on...then clouds came...noooo!!

It's just gone midnight and they've gone again and I managed to grab a single ten minute exposure, unguided with the Megrez 72 with 0.8 FF/FR and it's still bang on with tracking! I couldn't believe it!

So this is my single 10min exposure, ISO 1600 with the modded 450D. I have a VERY quick pop through photoshop to reduce the brightness with levels and a little curve that's it.

Happy boy? I think so!!

That looks great and very "filamentary".

They used to call it the Filamentary Nebula hundreds of years ago, when I first saw photo's of it as a child :) .

I know nothing about AP, but it seems quite astounding that you have that much detail in just 10 minutes  .

Managed to grab 11 x 10min subs in total, had to bin 9 of them due to cloud cover. Processed in PI and photoshop and reduced stars a bit. This is final result. Pretty happy for first light on my new mount :)
