Hi Michael,

Its not so much "is it any good for a 10" do"' but will it improve my viewing. It really depends what your targets are. You need to give us more info on what your interests are in the sky!.

Take a look at these sites:

The first one tells you which filter to use for which object.

I find the O111 filter alot better then a UHC.

If you have some 2" eyepieces, get a 2" filter. You can usually fit them to a 2" to 1.25" adapter for use with smaller eyepieces.

Those websites have been in my bookmarks for a while. Extremely useful info.

In my opinion those filters are a useful addition to your kit but are no substitute for really dark skies.

You will find much more expensive makes of filter that are probably only marginally better.

I would get the UHC first and see what improvements you see while observing then when you can afford it upgrade to the O111.

Good thing about astro gear, you very rarely loose a lot of money on it especially if you buy and sell second hand.

Yep...those were my thoughts exactly Mick.

I was just stumped by the price, I know there are high quality filters such as

Astronomik and 1000 Oaks, but this one (albeit GSO) is only GBP 15,- converted !

You get what you pay for Michael.

When I buy filters I try to get the Baader ones, I think they are a good buy compared to the Astronomik and 1000 oaks one.

Yes....

I will try this filter and order it, which may take a while..

If it is bad...I can always write a cautionairy review.

I have a Sky watcher  OIII and a UHC filters, both Chinese like the GSO's and both do well for me. I would try different filters, as what might work for someone else may well work different for you.
