those pesky nylon rollers Synta fitted on their dobs are prone to...crummy performance

time to change them.

First get 8 bearings, bolts and washers

(70mm/8mm bolt plus washers and 22mm diam. bearing)

The old setup...even tried milkwashers, waxes and cd's..

Insert new bolts, need to drill out the holes a bit (10mmdrillbit).

First set of washers between the board and the bearings.

fits perfectly...and the Alt. action is much smoother..

yes..you mean the skywatcher patented tensioning system?.. :)

that system is not so goo, as they only installed it on the tensioner situated below

the focuser.

the opposite tensioner I modded a bit by adding a spring washer and a little floor felt pad.

Nice simple mod, I wonder if Skywatcher use a slightly better product (cant believe I just said) as mine is perfectly smooth even with loads and loads of weight on it.

Nicely done though.

I think...-like the Az movement on a SW dob- it works fine when

it's new..

I purchased my scope second hand...it was a bit like my rockerbox

had a constant handbrake on...
