Managed a walk on Cannock Chase yesterday in the sun, heres a sample showing off the colours

You cant really get the scale of this fungi but it was about 10" in diameter, it was huge

Im told the fungi are Shaggy Parasol and are edible, I dont think I will try it though just in case I get it wrong

I only know as my wife is Polish and they are taught from a young age what is good and what is not. I would never have known for myself. :)

Its well worth a walk John, plenty of good cafes as well, but take a map and compass. Even though its close to civilisation its big and one valley looks much the same as another, many folk have got lost. Me included in the early days:-) Ive been walking and cycling on the chase for over 20 years and I never tire of it.

Mark, my dads polish and he always used to say, "If you can peel it then its edible, but there are a few exceptions to that rule" Its those exceptions Im nervous of :-)
