By my thinking we can't keep missing the rain for ever and we roughly get the same amount of rain each year ? So we must be due a long wet spell of weather, prob all summer, lol

Hi Dave,

All depends on the position of the Jetstream, if it moves north then we bring warm air up from the Azores, usually sets up high over Denmark, prolonged static high = Summer of 1976 !.

If the Jetstream moves south or directly over the uk in the summer then it drags all the crud and unsettled weather with it, we have experienced during last years BBQ summer. Effectively it 'blocks' warm air reaching us.

All the long range forecasts depend on the JS pos, and most of it is a load of dingos kidneys. Scotland has been receiving 125% of its normal rainfall (usuaully when we are there!) but if you look at the rest of the country, the rain pattern is changing from April showers to May / June.

East coast is always drier, but has not been this dry for years where you are!!.

Cheers

How true, perfect timing for the nights drawing in.. Mind you was in Sutton walking the pooches towards the end of the summer last year and it was like a plague of ladybirds. There must have been millions blown up from the golf club and fields...

I know we get loads of bugs here, our bathroom faces the beach and we can't have the window open at night because of this, the room would be coverd with dead insects by the morning. Anyway they are talking about a bit of rain on friday so let's see what happens.
