Watched video, guy shooting Andromeda from static setup, shot 400 lights - 20 darks - 20 bias, exposure 1.6 sec each light, same for darks, then a lot faster for bias,


 


Is this strange or an accepted way to go ?

Not an imager but I think it's OK to go this way. The speed is slow enough to rule out earth rotation I would imagine, so your stars should be pin points if focused correctly. And 400 frames of each once combined should show little noise and the image should be pretty smooth.


 


Try it and see, that's the best way.
