A quick Jupiter from this evening, atmospherics wouldn't give higher mag very well at F30 so I stuck at f15 with the mak180. Not very big but you can just see the GRS peeking round the corner

I was observing Jupiter last night through my Meade LX10.


Good views at X100 but at X160 there was a lot of boiling of the image.


I assume that the "seeing" was not that steady last night?

Ta chaps, yep it was boiling at f30, plus the wind buffetting the scope didnt help, I put up a windshield in the end. I managed one iffy image at f30 but when sharpening with wavelets the dreaded ring artefacts come in. Far steadier at f15. I tried some visual and stuck at 100x as well Graham.
