philjay Posted February 16, 2015 Share Posted February 16, 2015 A quick Jupiter from this evening, atmospherics wouldn't give higher mag very well at F30 so I stuck at f15 with the mak180. Not very big but you can just see the GRS peeking round the corner Mak 180, IMGOH, PIPP, AS2, Registax. 2000 frames +Ibbo, Johnnyaardvark and Orion 3 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

gfletcher Posted February 17, 2015 Share Posted February 17, 2015 I was observing Jupiter last night through my Meade LX10. Good views at X100 but at X160 there was a lot of boiling of the image. philjay Posted February 17, 2015 Author Share Posted February 17, 2015 Ta chaps, yep it was boiling at f30, plus the wind buffetting the scope didnt help, I put up a windshield in the end. I managed one iffy image at f30 but when sharpening with wavelets the dreaded ring artefacts come in. Far steadier at f15. I tried some visual and stuck at 100x as well Graham.
