M42 - short subs

As I've been having problems guiding, I thought I'd experiment, rather than lose yet another clear night. I was wondering if I got plenty of short subs on M42 whether the accumulated data would be useable. So I did 60 x 60 secs in Ha. The processing was just a histogram stretch and a bit of denoise to take the rough edges off. It's still noisy (though not bad for a mere hours worth). The core stars are visible (just). No messing around with various length subs or masking. I might revisit this when Orion is a bit higher.

Lovely result, the filaments look amazing! It's a difficult object to capture.

M42 is an awesome majestic sight through a decent aperture scope, irresistible if its in season. Photography allows us to gaze upon it all year round. Makes you glad to be in the northern hemisphere!
