Stargazing Live week 25th and 26th March 2015

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon All,

Well what a week! We had Aurora in the week followed by the stunning solar eclipse on Friday morning. If you managed to miss the eclipse you have a chance to watch it again on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCglRL4sfQ3sop9NIBkpLesA this was streamed live and so far has been watched over 300,000 times all over the world.

Looking ahead to next week then:

Wednesday 25th March 6pm - 9pm - Stargazing Live Public Showcase Event.
We have a mobile planetarium giving 3 shows of 30 mins at 6:15, 7:15 and 8:15.
Anu Ojha OBE of the National Space Center is presenting a talk on space exploration in the main hall at 7pm.
Moon rocks, Meteorites etc.
Experiments for kids of all ages.
Comet making - not me this time, so it might go right!
East Midlands Stargazeers display.
Hot food and drinks.

Admission free.

Thursday 26th March 6:30pm - 8:30pm(ish) - Society Meeting - Paul Money Talk
Paul Money, writer for Sky At Night magazine is presenting a brilliant talk about 10 of the images he found most inspiring. This is vol1 now although was originally planned as a one and only talk on the subject but pressure from audiences has led to vols 2,3,4 and now in progress 5!

After the main talk there will be a chance to see and handle moon rocks and meteorites as well as perhaps a chance to observe in the dome if the weather allows.

Admission Free to members (membership due as of Jan unless you have already renewed) or by suggested donation of £2 each for non members. Refreshments available from 6:15pm. As always children welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

We do hope to see you next week, both night are set to be great entertainment all round and a great opportunity to see and perhaps handle pieces of that lump of rock that switched off the sunlight on Friday!

Regards Mike.
