William Optics red dot finder.

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me if the William Optics red dot finder fits a Skywatcher dovetail base.

Can't seem to find the answer.

The standard WO fittings are not compatible with SW without some ugly bodging. I'm sure someone does an adaptor, but just had a search and can't find it now.

I think the WO fitting on the RDF can easily be swapped out for the SW RDF fitting.

In my experience the WO and SW RDF's have totally different shoe's and fittings. And WO/SW also use totally different thread sizes to fix the shoes to scope. I've never yet found an adaptor to allow mix 'n' match.

Thanks guys.

There must be a workaround for this.

I prefer the WO finder, I used to have one on my GT81 and it was pretty awesome compared to the cheaper ones.

WO use a M5 screw to attach the finder base to their scopes, I wonder what size Skywatcher screws are.
