What a night I had. 12.04.2015

Well last night started off as a complete disaster.

Finally worked out the collimation on the Meade is out as I just could not get a sharp focus on Jupiter.  :screwloose:

So I stripped the rig down and reloaded the NEQ6 with the GT 81 imaging rig.

After that the night just got better and better.  :frantic:

The only thing to spoil this crystal clear dark sky was the moon appearing at 4 30 this morning.  :(

First target was a new field for me a Glob cluster.

I decided my first venture into the globs was going to be M3.

As I liked what I was seeing on the screen I decided that the next target of the night was going to be another Glob.

This time it was M92

Now came the best bit of the night.

Whilst searching for my next Glob cluster I came across this.

HD194798

I have never heard of an 'HD' listing let alone imaged one so I locked on to it and did a test sub.

What a find.

So many stars and a Neb to boot.

This is one I am going to go back to and spend the whole night imaging.

Only managed 18 subs at 300 seconds ISO 800 because the moon came up.  :wallbash:

Then just to finish things off I did a quick Solar shot before calling it a night well day by then.

HD194798 is just a star in Capricorn that last photo is IC1318 the butterfly nebula in Cygnus Graham.

Cracking shots Graham, you must have to much spare time on your hands

Brilliant images Graham. Really love the globulars as well. You certainly did have a great night.

The nebula is pretty much centred on mag 6.6 star HD194789 in Cygnus. So I think you simply transposed the last two digits in your post.

HD is the Henry Draper catalogue compiled in the early 1920s which contains nearly a quarter of a million stars.

The cluster next to Sadr is NGC6910 which is nice visually at higher powers.

Thanks for the comments and for the info on the neb.

I must have got the numbers round the wrong way when I read it in the wee early hours.

Very good images Graham. The dithering is certainly working very nicely. Much less noise in the dark areas than my shots and bringing out fainter bits of the nebula very nicely.

I think that sunspot group is going to be a cracker over the coming week!

Blimey, you had a busy night there Graham. Great Globs, particularly M92 where you have got some nice star colour in there.

You had a great night! Your enthusiasm and excitement is obvious to all - good for you! 😃

Fab globs, a neb and the sun! Quite a varied and interesting bag of objects! The globs are fascinating to look at!

Nice post Graham 😊
