That is a lovely widefield view, yet still has loads of fine crisp detail. :thumbsup:

This is M101, NGC5457. Glad you got the number wrong as it prompted me to find some other interesting stuff about it. :)

I'm not sure I can see NGC 5471 in there. 5471 is a star forming HII region towards the end of the lower spiral arm. I think 5471 would look the size of a small star in the image.

Actually NGC5471 is in your image Steven. :2thumbsup:


 


You can identify it from the annotated S&T image, but it does look like a star.
