8472 posted this image of the California nebula in widefield but I have included it in here because it is more close up than most wides and I think belongs here

ibbo was not doing the moon again with this lovely shot

Planetary

Andyboy1970 gave us a set of Mars images

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/15141-20-minutes-with-mars/

and Ibbo has been chasing the thin Venus as it approaches inferior conjunction

Solar

Quite a few images this month so heres a selection that grabbed my eye

Ibbo was busy on solar again

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/15151-sol-22-10-2018-ha/

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/15137-sol-20-10-2018-ha/

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/15120-sol-18-10-2018-ha/

Graham was also busy

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/15189-a-couple-of-solar-from-27102018-and-29102018/

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/15145-solar-from-today-21102018/

After much deliberation, because there are some fine images posted this month I reckon the POTM should go to Ibbo for his shot of Venus 10 minutes before inferior conjunction. Why? Because its shot in daylight and close to the sun and is a nice bit of Astronomy with a picture at the end of it. Nice one Steve.

Well done Steve. ?

I'm sure that took a bit of planning to get it right.

With about 2 dozen cracking images to choose from, that must've given Phil a headache. ?

Thanks.

I was going to do another today but was beaten by clouds.

The plan is to follow it to monitor the size and phase change if I get the chance.
