Can't focus on anything!

So I'm trying to focus my Dob 250 on a far away object - I can find it through the finder scope but through the eyepiece nothing just a mass of out of focus blurs - what am I doing wrong? It's something stupid I know

Your far away object might not be far away enough? Focusing that thing on a terrestrial target will be tricky I suspect.

You could try releasing the eyepiece and moving it slowly away from the focuser tube and see if anything sharpens up, I suspect back focus is the problem.

However could be collimation, do you know how to check it?

No idea how to check that no

Mostly likely not that, for now have a go and moving the eyepiece further away, and ideally aim it up this evening if a gap in the clouds appears :)

Makes no difference when I move the eyepiece further away

Just to check the fine details then:

Have you racked the focuser all the way out?

How far away from the focuser have you moved the eyepiece?

What eyepiece are you using?

365 Astronomy Mick - Zoltan's the man (or something like that) - I have one too and it's very good - quick turn around and good service as well :)

I've had several dealings with Zoltan at 365 and he seems very efficient and gives very quick service.

Any problems and Zoltan sorts it immediately, no messing.

For what it's worth, recently there was another member who had this problem. The issue was moving the focus too far and too fast, thus missing the sweet spot in the process. Best tip I would give with this scope for visual is, bung an eye piece in, just as you show in your picture. Move the focuser all the way out. Gradually and smoothly bring the focusser inwards whilst targeting something a long old way off. With my 200p 1/4 mile isn't far enough away, so it needs to be something say half a mile or further away. The focused point is only around 1mm of travel when you find it which is why it is easy to miss it all together if you are being a bit over enthusiastic with the focus wheels.

I totally agree with Mike. I have helped a few people new to this hobby who had the same problem and it's always been focusing issues.
