Can't believe it was something so simple - glad you're up and running now Graham and well spotted Andy :)

71 down and no problems as yet.

Andy as soon as you said about using the card it switched on a light, because I used the card when I tested the camera after modding it.

Glad its going well.

The other thing mentioned about leaving the card in is that it has been noted to increase the banding on images.

I was thinking it should be "Andys wall" :P

:(  it is with deep regret I have to inform you all that the camera has dropped out after 113 subs. :(

Mind saying that this time it is totally different.

Normally the screen on the camera says it is busy.

This time the screen was blank as if it was waiting to be told to take sub 114.

Just wondering as it happened at around midnight the pc tried to do some sort of update and messed with BYE.

that's a pain! sorry

Is 113 subs better than before?

How long is 113 subs in time terms, does this time relate to some preset event on either the camera or the computer?

I do hope you get it sorted.

113 subs (with 10 second cool down gaps) is about 4 hrs - that's a good run at two mins per sub. :)

Hi James

total run time was about 4.5 hours

I think the computer tried to do updates at midnight but as it is not connected to the web it has messed about with BYE

I have turned all updates off this morning and I am running it again.

Like I said the camera had finished downloading sub 113 and by the looks of the screen on the camera never got told to start sub 114.

Heres hoping it runs through this time.

The only setting I have changed is the delay which I have increased to 30 seconds.

Is it possibe to connecct the computer to the web (wired or wifi) then you don't run the risk of forgetting to turn automatic updates on, and hopefully if it did any it would just complete the task anyway without causing a problem to BYE.

I know you have probably thought about this but does the power management options on the computer have any funny settings like switching off the hard drives or monitor or something at this time which might trigger a camera issue.

OOOOOHHHHHH  sod it. :screwloose: :screwloose: :screwloose:

I knew there was something else I had to check.

I ment to switch off all the power saving schemes this morning as well.

Thanks for the reminder James I will do that at the end of this test run.

I think it's unlikely to be the issue, but no harm in excluding all these things so when a fool like me suggests it you can say "done that".

Good luck.

well this test run only lasted 20 subs before shut down.

I have now checked the power saving and they were all off.

I did however find that Adobe was trying to do an update every 20 mins so that has been shut off as well.

Now gong for 301 - 60 second subs to speed up the test a bit.

Update at 4 hours and 30 minuets.

Still going strong 201 subs down 100 to go.

camera shut down after sub 261. :(

Now trying it at 5 min subs to see if there are any time related issues .

Sounds good test complete I would say

Hope so Pat.

At the risk of giving it the kiss of death it has so far completed 16 - 5 mins subs with a 30 second delay between each one.

Well that concludes the testing.

78 -- 300 second subs at ISO 800 with a 30 second delay between subs.

No faults shut downs or any problems what so ever.

Recommendations from these tests.

1 - Remove the memory card if you are going to download direct to your PC --- Andyboy 1970  :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy::2thumbsup: :2thumbsup:

2 - Make sure all power saving on your PC is turned off.

3 - Make sure if it is not connected to the internet that auto updates are switched off. Especially the Adobe auto update.

After that post up on EMS for help. I did and it has worked for me. ( I hope )

Well done!

In the interest of good science, i would repeat the test if possiblebunder the same conditions to confirm it wasn't a fluke.

Well done thought.

Hi James.

I will be sort of repeating the test because I am going to spend the day shooting a Darks library.

Graham.
