Magellan Boy Posted December 3, 2014 Share Posted December 3, 2014 Our NEXT MAIN MEETING will be held this Friday 5th December 2014 from 7:30 pm onwards at The Friends Meeting House, St. Helens Street, Derby, DE1 3GY. DDAS member Katie Smith will be giving a talk entitled A Curious Passion. How a mistake, an accident and a burning desire to find out more helped reveal the hidden Universe. Katie is founder and director of Beyond the Pencil Ltd. With a degree in astrophysics and several years’ experience of presenting planetarium shows both in the UK and the USA, Katie is an enthusiastic science communicator. Some of you may know her through her involvement with Stargazing Live in Derby and the Alvaston Park Friends. Also at this meeting there is a raffle with astronomy book prizes and coffee and biscuits are provided during the break. There is a collection which helps pay for the rental of the room which is £1 for members and £3 for non-members. Why not join us for some refreshment at the Seven Stars afterwards?
