Hi All

Nikon have just released a new camera for astro photography called the D810A, its a full frame 36.6-megapixel  camera with a  redesigned infrared cut filter,  long exposure mode up to 900s and unlimited continuous shooting ISO 200-12800 extendable to 51200,

WEX photographic have it for pre order for £2999.00  a bit more pricey than a modded  canon but a nice piece of kit all the same.

Sounds cool. Great that you can do long exposure built in without having to use external software.

Wow, looks like they are all going for the high mega pixels, see this thread which somebody posted about 50 mega pixel Cannons....

Makes you wonder how much PC power you would need to stack 36 or 50 mega pixel pictures?

Does look very nice and good to see Nikon getting in on the astro scene a bit more. What a price though!

What a price indeed.  Â£3K ?  :screwloose:

When the 810 is £600 less......you can almost hear them thinking "they're astronomers....they've got plenty of £££' !

Be interesting to see how it performs against Canons 60 DA, which was roughly a third of the cost.
