I had bought a bad board so there is one left to lay on the top then I need to make a decision on how to finish the edges and do a step, but it is pretty much done now bar a bit of deck paint/treatment. Back is giving me a bit of aggro now but I am happy with how it looks and the tripod still fits and does not move at all!

Blimey Mike, precision engineering! Do you work at derby's Rolls Royce by any chance?

It's looking fab!

That is a lovely job and definitely a lot of precision, you must be very pleased with your hard work. Well done Mike

I work for a school as a Physics and Observatory technician, I used to be a tool maker though so I am used to being reasonably precise. Thanks :)

Cheers Pete, I am reasonably happy yes, just one hole not quite as neat as I would have liked but I half expected them to look a dogs dinner so I am happy enough. The shed part is going to take a whole lot more thinking about and planning. The deck has been a couple of years in the planning stage as I thought through exactly how to do it. My Dad would not be impressed though, not a single drawing!

Nice job Mike now all you have to find is a barby with the same footprint as the tripod :D

Now that is a damned fine idea.

Just been out for a quick bash. All polar aligned and running sweet. Had a good old jump about on the deck and as expected not a single bit of movement on the scope at all. Here's a quick shot to prove it.

Very nice Mike.

It must be quicker and more convenient to setup now with the new deck sorted.

I see the gnomes have their own individual plinths now :D

Thought that might get a laugh ;) They will be next to the bench when I have restored it, they are a family heirloom.
