It shouldn't show up in a finder, you normally have to push the magnification up before you see it.

Got a couple of 2" eyepieces flying over the Atlantic.

Nice :) Just checked their website out. Interesting that they make a 1.25" 50mm plössl.

They do, but it will be like looking through a straw.

The bigger focal lengths need 2" to take advantage of any reasonable field of view.

Do you rate their stuff then?

I will soon find out.

Got these for an absolute bargain price secondhand and just fancied giving them a try. Will probably sell them on.

Years ago I had one of their 2" 65mm Plossls and it was great especially at the price. The long focal length eps will work better on your F10 scope than on mine.

I wonder what they will be like.

I see they have a 85mm and a 72mm as well.

Whats the fov in them.

I've heard it's 70° but I can't believe that, more like 45°.

I'm intrigued as to how they perform in shorter ratios. Apparently they are good to the edge in longer ratio scopes as you'd expect. They are supposed to be excellent quality for the price. The 55mm should be better near the edge than the 17mm which has a wider apparent field.

The field of view is about 50 degrees in the 55mm, the formulas mean it can't be larger than 50 degrees, unless the laws of physics change :D . That is using the widest field lens possible in a 50mm barrel. I think they use the same size for the eye lens :) .

The 19mm is 70 degrees.

I want to check out the effect of oversized exit pupils using the 55mm in the refractor.

When limited by a 2" barrel, the 72mm could be no wider than 37 degrees and the 85mm no wider than 31 degrees.

Shame they don't make the 72mm and 85mm in a 3" barrel then maybe that could be extended to 70°.

85mm will give me mag x9.8 and a 3.16° FOV

If they did a 70° eyepiece my specs would be

mag x9.8  and fov of 7.16°

An 85mm limited by a 3" barrel would be a maximum of 47 degrees.

You can see why the big firms don't make these. There is just no call for them. So it's not worth their time.

I bet Zeiss did a run of about a dozen of these, just for the real big observatories.

I've 'upgraded' the 3.5" end cap on the back of my focuser.

This one does away with the 2 thumbscrews and uses a collet style tightening ring (2 inch opening) instead.

Also got the matching 2 inch dust cap (with desiccant) to go with it.

From Starlight instruments LLC, Indiana, US.  (11 days from order to local collection)

Both ridiculously expensive......

Very nice Rob but as you say anything from Starlightis mega expensive.

Why can't Skywatcher do something like this on their scopes.
