Will do.

My strategy is to do the woodwork before I purchase the optics in order to see how i get on.

I have always wanted an obsession scope but with the shipping and taxes etc they are out of my reach.

At least this way i can achieve my dream to some degree.

I will start a thread here and SGL as soon as i have something to show.

A 24" dob is a very American thing. Fit's nicely in the back of your average Chevy pick up for a quick run up the mountain to mag 7 skies :) .

Go for it.

Yup - once the dobs built - the only mods you'll need are a Chevvy pickup and a Mountain lol :)

Or just a power cut throughout the Midlands on a night when there's no cloud. What are the chances of that?

Not so much a purchase but a couple of birthday presents. I got a little star globe (pictured) from my sister and a book from my lovely other half by Brian Cox an Jeff Forshaw called: The Quantum Universe:Everything that can happen does happen. Have not got into it properly yet but looks quite good.
