Picture of the Month June 2014

Well the weather has been set in its ways again, couple that with the light nights and there hasn't been many folks out imaging this month. But we are past the longest day now so we have those long, cold, clear nights to look forward to, don't we? :-)

Also his IC1396 in Ha shows nice composition http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/8166-elephants-trunk-in-ic1396/ and the crescent here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/8169-ngc6888-in-ha-oiii-oiii/

Sheila gave us a view of the tulip in Ha here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/8197-sh2-101-tulip-wip/

VikN46 had a go at M27 here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/8206-m27-the-dumbbell-nebula-my-first-real-attempt/ and NGC7000 here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/8213-ngc-7000-colour-and-bw/

fwm891 gave us a link to a nice animation here http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/8203-dusk-to-dawn/

Conclusion
I must admit the image submitted by olly of the squid and bat nebula bowled me over, what a stunning image of an object that I have never seen before but unfortunately the imagers responsible Yves Vand Den Buerk and Tom Donahue aren't EMS members so I cannot award them Potm but could you please pass my congratulations on to them for producing a superb image Olly?

After great deliberation I can say that this months Potm accolade goes to red dwarf and his 1st light with his new Atik 314. Its a great 1st light image Rob especially as its LRGB, something which I never got my head round. I also like M101 as a subject and the image scale is nice pulling in loads of detail in the arms. More data on this will turn it into a stunner Rob but its a nice image as is. A key to APT is on its way to you Rob, congrats.
