This month saw a few clear nights and days for a change so there are a few more images to look through than last month which is great, keep up the good work folks.

Comets etc

I managed a shot from the New Mexico iTelescope observatory of comet Johnson

Solar

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/12982-solar-today-20052017/

I even managed a shot through the constant murk that seems to cover us these days

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/12946-3rd-may-activity/

Then a fine set of images followed from Ibbo from the 22nd right up to the 31st as part of his spectacular sequence animation which can be seen here

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/13008-38-out-of-39-days-images-from-27283031-march-1st-to-30th-april-1st2nd3rd-4thmay/

My hat goes off to you Steve for perseverance on a project that requires clearish skies in this overcast island of ours.

Widefield

We had 3 posts in widefield this month

First off was from newtyng5 and some more southern constellations whilst on hols

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/12997-a-couple-from-maspalomas_gran-canaries/

Tasking gave us a star trail shot from Kelling

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/13021-kelling-heath-star-trsils/

and Sunny Phil gave us a shot of Lyra

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/13022-nobody-does-constellations-any-more-lyra/

So that is alot of fine images which only makes my job harder to pick a single Picture of the Month but I am torn between 3 at the moment and just cannot make my mind up because they all appeal for different reasons, well executed and processed.

Taskings widefield from Kelling

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/13021-kelling-heath-star-trsils/

and Ibbos Jupiter from the 21st

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/12987-jupiter-21-5-2017/

and silentrunnings M92

Some great colours in silentrunnings M92 here

https://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/13014-m92/

But the rules state that there should only be one, so I have to make a decision and that is the M92 from silentrunning. Why? Good focus, tasteful diffraction spikes, natural colours plus being captured using 2 scopes and the processing could not have been straightforward. Resulting in a worthy finished product  well done John.
