Hi again folks, yet another poor month clear skies wise and already we are going in to British Summer Time, lets hope we get a good run of clear skies to make up.

Could I just take a minute of your time to have a look at the addition to the PoTM How It Works thread here

http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/55-picture-of-the-month-how-it-works/

The rules are the same all I've done is clarify them a little more, thanks

Despite the poor weather our stalwart imagers have been out there and been capturing some good stuff this month

Deep Sky

Graham M81/82 and Leo Triplet

http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4150-5-for-the-price-of-2-from-last-night-02032013/

M51   http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4162-m51-from-tonight-03032013/ and http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4460-m51-from-tonight-30032013/

M1   http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4191-m1-from-tonight-05032013/ then he shows us M1 with a nearby Iridium flare, well done on that onehttp://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4231-m1-with-an-iridium-flare/

Eddy_J1 M51 with his new rig

http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4161-m51-02-03-2013/

Kheldar showed us what Astropink can do http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4158-horsehead-new-rig-test-2/ from a very cold Belper night

also how he managed this M101 from a cloudy SGL8 I will never know http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4351-i-went-to-sgl8-and-all-i-got-was-this-lousy-9-minutes-of-m101/

Red Dwarf also managed an image at SGL8 http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4337-my-first-dlsr-image-from-sgl8/ dedication and warm underwear was required for these 2 shots from SGL8

Even I managed a very foggy M82

Andyboy1970  Close up of M51 shows promise http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4193-trying-to-get-a-grip-of-the-new-camera/

his close up of M3 shows good focus http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4299-m3/

M109   http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4302-m109/

M101  http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4303-m101/

Andys reprocessed M33 shows great detail and colour http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4372-m33-re-process/

M65 and supernova is interesting caspture http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4455-m65-and-supernova-2013am/

Ron Clarkes unmodded M42 has something about it http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4201-a-foggy-m42-5313/ perhaps it was the fog but its very atmospheric, no pun intended there

A superb pair of galaxies from Ollypenrice http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4256-m95-m96/ also his NGC4725 and frioends shows superb depth and detail http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4334-ngc4725-and-friends/

Antares_Paul gave us a nice view of the galaxy M94 http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4447-m94/ and the Leo Triplet http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4469-first-leo-triplet-for-me/ and finally a super M13 http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4473-m13-first-globular-cluster-attempt/ to show summer is not far away.

Lunar

Not much on lunar this month but I really enjoyed Tbirds moon with jet photograph http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4291-a-plane-moon/

Perkil8r is still getting the data in for his lunar project with some really crisp images http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4356-lunar-190313/page-2

Planetary

Jupiter is naturally still the planet of choice but a few Saturns are creeping in now that the planet is starting to get a bit more accessible

Catman161s images of Jupiter show some fine detail in the GRS Transit http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4360-jupiter-and-grs-transit-19032013/

Well done to Ron Clarke for bagging Panstarrs http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/gallery/image/1306-comet-panstarrs/ between clouds

Andyboy1970 bagged a nice Saturn http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4453-saturn-30march2013/ showing the rings opening up nicely, I am looking forward to this years aparition I always enjoy viewing Saturn

Sketching

Only one brave soul Catman161 braved a sketch this month http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4361-ngc2244-the-satellite-cluster-19032013/, reminding me that  I really must get my HB pencils out more.

Solar

Only 2 solar images this month, shows what the weather has been like

Well done Dawson for picking folks brains on here then getting out there and imaging, http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4218-solar-imaging/, thats what EMS is all about, helping each other in our hobby.

Ron Clarke gave us a shot from teh 31st to show us there is still some activity up there http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4467-sun-31313/

Widefield

The star of the show here is of course comet Panstarrs and congrats to the brave souls who braved the cold and clouds to bag it.

Ibbo got there 1st with a nice shot over his garage http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4293-panstarrs-13-3-2013/

Andyboy1970 gave us 2 shots from different nights http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4296-comet-c2011-l4-panstars/

http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4346-comet-c2011-l4-panstars-18mar13/

Oldfruit managed to bag it from his garden http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4434-comet-panstarrs-today-28032013/ as well as telescopically from Gibraltar Point http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4459-30032013-comet-panstarrs-from-gibraltar-point/

So all that remains is to choose, you folks are making it more and more difficult cos again there are a fine set of images but I must admit the 2 that have grabbed me just that little bit more than the others are:

Tbirds moon with jet and Oldfruits telescopic view of comet Panstarrs but out of the 2 I reckon the one that has the wow factor is Tbirds moon and plane, so congrats Tbird a key for Astrophotography Tools (APT) is on its way to you.

http://www.eastmidlandsstargazers.org.uk/topic/4291-a-plane-moon/

I just love the colour in the con trail against the blue sky and thin moon, a great chance shot but with forethought and composition in there as well

Thanks to all that have shared their images this month, a good selection and plenty of variety, keep them coming
